The new single
Over the Hills to Woodstock
A new single, “Over the Hills to Woodstock” was premiered and released on September 7th, 2002 at the “Glory Days of the Railroad” festival in White River Junction, Vermont.
At a special presentation during the festival’s opening ceremony, the singer/songwriter Rob Oxford presented a special commemorative autographed copy of the song to Emily Mead, widow of the author Edgar Mead who wrote the book which inspired the new song. A similar copy was also presented to the organizers of the festival. Rob then performed the song for the first time in public to an enthusiastic audience.
“Over the Hills to Woodstock” is a great new train song in the folk tradition that brings to life the romance of the old short line railroads of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
